Christmas hampers help parishes and communities
CCI Personal Insurance has a long-term commitment to providing additional support to our parishes through our Parish Assist Program. One way we do this is by donating gourmet hampers and raffle tickets to parishes, as we did at Christmas 2015.
Access to education
Among the recipients of this year's hampers were St Anne's and St Bede's in North Balwyn, who used them for their Christmas raffle. Tickets were sold over two weekends at both churches and raised $1050 (which included lovely anonymous donations of $157).
In a note of thanks, Anne Beuchat, secretary of St Anne's and St Bede's Social Justice Group, wrote: "The funds will be directed towards supporting the 'Assist a Student' program of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and as a result 15 children in overseas countries will be assisted in their education."
Helpful hampers
Christmas hampers were also donated to the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project (BASP) in Albert Park. They work with asylum seekers to provide a range of support services, hospitality and advocacy.
"BASP delivered the hampers from CCI as part of our Christmas hamper effort," wrote Brigid Arthur, Coordinator at BASP. "We felt good being able to bring some cheer to families at Christmas time. Those we are helping are mainly reliant on Newstart or have no income. They all have a pretty rugged time so all signs of people caring is good."
St Patrick's Church, one of the Catholic parishes of Boorowa, Binalong-Galong, also received a hamper. They raised $1140, and invested in new cleaning equipment for the church.
