CatholicCare – An afternoon with Dudley Drew

In March 2014, CatholicCare hosted ‘An afternoon with Dudley Drew’ at St Kevin’s College in Toorak. Dudley Drew is considered one of Australia’s art legends.

Dudley made a rare public appearance and donated a spectacular still-life painting valued at $5,000 to raise much needed funds for Clemente Fitzroy, an Adult Education Program which is delivered in partnership with the Australian Catholic University. The Clemente Fitzroy program offers tertiary level studies in Humanities to disadvantaged people in the community. Most people engaged with the program have faced life challenges such as substance misuse, mental health issues, imprisonment, homelessness and/or major psychological distress.

The event provided art lovers and budding artists an opportunity to find out more about the man behind the art. The prize was won by a delighted Sr Mary Carroll and raised $5,000 for Clemente. A great result for everyone involved!

CCI provided funding to assist with venue hire and audio visual related costs.
